Desert Beauty Spots
Growing up, I would always wonder about this spot on the hill in Apple Valley, CA.
I remember driving past it with my dad when he was taking me to my first job at Juice it up when I was 16.
I always wondered what had gone on at the "House on the hill".
It peered down on you standing on one of the highest hills in the flat desert.
It sort of reminded me of Edward scissor hands.
After months and months of moving about my days, I sort of forgot about my desire to explore the area.
It sort of scared me.
Bot just about a week or two ago, me and my boyfriend Chris were having a little date day, and we checked
out our local museum. We always wondered about it, and it was cheap, so we thought "why not?".
It was a small museum (there is not much history in this desert), but it was interesting.
One of the first exhibits just so happened to be about the "House on The Hill" in Apple Valley, CA.
It stated that it used to be one of the more "happening" spots back in the 40's and 50's.
The Apple Valley Inn at the bottom of the hill was connected to the house on the hill, which was infact,
a spa!
We then learned that whites were only allowed to stay at the Inn and spa, and the hotel has offered rooms
to some famous cowboys, and even Marilyn Monroe.
So we took it upon ourselves to do some exploring.
The hill you walk up is quite the work out, and in boots, it's a little dangerous.
So I took my boyfriend, and we went.
We reached the top, and it was beautiful.
There was an eerie sadness to it as well.
It was upsetting that such a beautiful spot had been left to ruins, but it's beauty remained.
I posted some photos above.
I recommend exploring the house, people/family's go running up the hill, so it is a pretty safe area.
Just don't go alone!
